IKUSE Shaft Couplings

IKUSE industrial shaft couplings include disc, crowned-tooth gear, elastic-block, tyre, slider, roller-chain, rigid, torque-limiting and safety types. Select the product family and check torque, speed, bore and installation dimensions.

Elastic-Pin Couplings

LX couplings connect shafts through flexible pins and allow servicing and replacement of the elastic elements.

FAQ

Metal disc packs transmit torque and accommodate permitted misalignment through elastic deformation. The disc packs themselves require no lubrication. Suitability for pumps, fans, machine tools and other precision drives depends on the selected design. Check operating speed, balance, temperature and shock loads against the technical data; the absence of a rubber element does not make a coupling suitable for every load.

A universal joint shaft transmits torque between shafts whose axes are at an angle. Applications include construction machinery, vehicle drives, rolling mills and large conveying equipment. The permitted angle, length, speed and need for a telescopic section depend on the model. Designs without a telescopic section do not provide axial length adjustment.

Gear engagement transmits substantial torque and accommodates shaft misalignment within the limits specified for the model. Applications include metallurgy, mining and other loaded drives, as well as pumps, fans and gearboxes. Follow the specified lubrication and wear-inspection requirements. Verify speed, load and misalignment against the selected model's technical data.

Common causes include excessive installation misalignment, sustained overload or shock loading, inadequate lubrication of gear or chain couplings, ageing or wear of elastic elements, excessive speed, corrosion and incorrect installation clearances.

Check nominal torque, operating speed, shaft diameters, radial, angular and axial misalignment, and the effects of temperature, dust, moisture and shock loads. Specify any requirements for a brake, torque limitation or transmission accuracy separately.

A coupling connects shafts and transmits torque. Its ability to accommodate misalignment, damp vibration or provide overload protection depends on its construction. Rigid, flexible, compensating and safety designs are selected according to load, speed, precision and operating conditions.
